Privacy & storage

What the game remembers, where it lives, and how you can clear it.

Updated 6 September 2026

The short version

You can play Bed & Baffled without an account. Your puzzle arrangements, hints, completed puzzles and streak stay in this browser. The game does not send those records to a player database or an AI service.

The game has no advertising or analytics scripts. Fonts and artwork are served with the site. Like other websites, it uses a hosting provider to deliver pages and protect the service.

What is stored on your device?

Storage used by the game
Stored informationWhy it is usedHow long it stays
Puzzle arrangements, recent undo history, hint usage and hint text, completed puzzles, daily streak dates and tutorial statusTo resume your game and remember your progress and hint allowanceNo automatic expiry is set. It stays until you clear site data or your browser removes it.
Game pages, code, fonts and imagesTo load the game and allow offline playCached versions are replaced by updates and can be removed by your browser or by clearing site data.

These use browser storage and an offline cache. They are not advertising profiles. A different device, browser or website address has its own separate saved progress.

Hosting and connection information

Vercel hosts this site. Delivering a page involves processing technical request information, such as an IP address, the requested address, request time and browser information. Operational records may be used to run, secure and troubleshoot the service.

The purpose is to provide a functioning, secure game. Where personal information is involved in those operations, our basis is the legitimate interest in delivering and protecting the service. Operational information is retained according to the hosting service’s settings and the needs of service delivery, security, incident handling and applicable obligations; it is separate from your saved puzzle records.

Vercel operates international infrastructure, so hosting-related processing may take place outside the UK. Vercel’s Privacy Notice describes the connection and service information it collects for its own purposes, its retention criteria, overseas processing and your choices in relation to that information.

Sharing and external links

Sharing is optional. If you choose to share a result, the game passes the result and puzzle link to your device’s sharing service, or copies them to the clipboard. It does not send your room arrangement. The app or service you choose handles that shared information under its own privacy terms.

External links take you to other websites with their own privacy practices.

Your choices

You can remove saved progress and cached files through your browser’s site-data settings for www.bedandbaffled.com. This removes saved puzzles and streaks from that browser. It does not delete data held separately by a hosting or sharing provider.

You can block browser storage, although saved progress and offline play may then be unavailable. No advertising or analytics consent controls are currently used because those features are not included in the game.

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law gives you rights to access, correct or erase personal information, restrict or object to its use, and receive a portable copy. Those rights depend on the information and lawful basis involved. You can also raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

If the game changes

This page will be updated if features such as accounts, payments, contact forms or analytics change how the service uses information. The date above shows when this version was last updated.
